GARRAD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The Garrard County Fiscal Court announced that they have begun a formal process to discontinue the Garrard Co. Police Department.
The department’s last day will be June 30, 2019. The county sheriff will take over law enforcement.
In comments on the Facebook post, the police say they aren’t sure which officers would be given positions in the sheriff’s office.
“The Sheriff has not told any of the officers which ones will have jobs or what their pay will be if they are offered a position. Given the uncertainty about how many positions will exist, which officers will be offered jobs, or what their pay will be, we expect additional officers will leave over the next few months as well,” reads a post by the page.
