MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WBON / LEX 18) — Police say a man arrested on burglary charges at Berea College is the same individual who attempted to set a fire at the New Opportunity School For Women in Berea.

WBON reports that authorities arrested 37-year-old Gary Davidson, who also was suspected as being one of two men who touched off a campus-wide alert at the beginning of March.

Berea police say they were called out to reports of a man with tools seen near a campus building. Officials say they found Davidson in a closet.

Berea College Public Safety told police that Davidson already was banned from the college after the alleged trespassing incident on the campus earlier.

WBON also reports that Davidson is the same man who set fire to the New Opportunity School For Women in 2012. That fire gutted the structure.

Davidson was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking of property under $500.
