LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A mother has been arrested after her young child was found wandering alone.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that they received a complaint Monday after a 4-year-old boy showed up at a residence on Riveria Lane.

When officials arrived on scene, the boy was able to show them where he lived–around 2/10 of a mile away.

According to a press release, an investigation was conducted and officials learned that the child’s mother, 36-year-old Deborah Donette Huff, had apparently smoked methamphetamine and used Suboxone.

In addition, Huff stated that her child had been missing at least 30 to 45 minutes and she had failed to notify law enforcement.

Authorities also learned that she had apparently driven her child and two other juveniles while intoxicated.

Huff was charged with three counts of second-degree wanton endangerment and public intoxication – controlled substances.
