Fish And Wildlife Officials Have Warnings For Boaters

(LEX 18)- Fish and Wildlife Officials are warning boaters to be cautious about rough water.

The warning comes a few days after emergency crews in Jessamine County saved two men caught in swift water. Officials say that while conditions on the Kentucky River have certainly improved over the last couple days, fishermen and boaters should still be mindful of swift water, especially with the potential for storms this week.

Underwater debris can strike motors and seize up boats. Boaters could also find themselves pinned up against debris.

Despite temperatures rising, officials say falling into the water at this time of year could still present the risk of hypothermia.
