RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) – A driver was taken into custody after state troopers say he led them on a pursuit after an attempted traffic stop.

A trooper attempted to stop the vehicle near the 88 milemarker of southbound I-75. That’s when troopers say the driver got off the road on Exit 87 and began driving down Barnes Mill Road in Richmond before exiting onto Poosey Ridge Road, which dead ends at the Kentucky River.

At the dead end, troopers say the driver attempted to do a u-turn before running over a tire deflation device. The pursuit continued on four flat tires until the car ran into a KSP roadblock.

That’s when the police say the driver jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to run into the woods where he was quickly taken into custody.

Charges against the driver are still pending at this time.
