WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The boyfriend of a pregnant woman who was shot and killed in Whitley County has been named the primary suspect in her death.

According to Kentucky State Police, 29-year-old Geri Johnson was pronounced dead after being shot. Doctors were able to deliver her newborn baby, but sadly the infant passed away at the hospital days later.

Officials say 29-year-old Daniel Nantz, of Woodbine, has been named the primary suspect in her murder.

The infant’s cause of death was listed as homicide, but police did not mention that crime in a press release.

Nantz is currently in custody in the Laurel County Detention Center on unrelated federal drug charges.
