JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A family is safe Thursday morning after a vehicle crashed into their home.
It happened just before 1 a.m. in Nicholasville.
Officials say the vehicle was heading down Barnes Street when it hit a tree, then tried to back up, and struck the house.
They say a child stays in the part of the house that was hit and had just left the room minutes before.
We’re told the vehicle took off, but investigators tracked it down by following a trail of leaking fuel and debris.
The driver faces several charges, including fleeing and evading.
Fire officials had to patch up a hole in the home, but the residents were able to return inside.
