Shooting Victim Dies, Charges Upgraded To Murder

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The victim in a weekend shooting has died. Lexington police now say the suspect has been charged with murder.

Lexington Police initially arrested 20-year-old Mykel D. Smith for assault following the Sunday shooting of an acquaintance on Race Street. That charge is now murder.

The victim is a 33-year-old man. The coroner has identified him as Adrian S. Sturgis.

Smith is lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
