LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE)- Friday marks two years since Louisville Metro Police Officer and Georgetown College Graduate Nick Rodman was killed on the job.

In 2017, police say a suspect was drunk and driving away from a shooting when he slammed into Rodman’s Cruiser. Now, his widow is speaking out about her husband’s legacy and what she’s doing to continue to give back to the city her husband died protecting.

Nick Rodman lived and breathed Louisville. A young husband and father of two, his life was cut tragically short on Mar. 29, 2017.

“We had this complete family, and it just got ripped away soo fast. It’s, it’s really devastating,” Ashley Rodman told a WAVE 3 News reporter.

Through the darkness and pain of the past two years, Rodman’s widow says that the people of Louisville have given her strength to carry on.

Rodman says the good others have done for her has compelled her to create the Nick Rodman Legacy Foundation. From helping victims of domestic violence to the city’s homeless, Ashley is hopeful that the non-profit will make a difference and celebrate her husband’s legacy.
