(LEX 18) A Lexington girl got a special surprise when she was reunited with a good friend.

Lauryn Holloway, now 10, was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome at age 6. Williams Syndrome is a genetic condition that is present at birth and can affect anyone.  It is characterized by medical problems, including cardiovascular disease, developmental delays, and learning challenges.

Lauryn’s mom, Krista, dedicated her life to learning more about the illness. That’s when she met Melissa Hodges, a woman whose son Jared has WS and is the same age as Lauryn.

When Lauryn and Jared met, Krista says there was an instant connection.

“They just clicked and are best friends,” explained Lauryn’s mother.

The only problem was the distance between these two friends. Jared is from Folkston, Georgia, a good ten hours away from his best friend.

The two parents conspired to surprise their children when Krista attended a conference about Williams Syndrome in Waycross, Georgia. The sweet reunion was captured on camera.

Blindfolded, the two kids met up in a park and the result was pure joy as Jared excitedly yelled, ” You came to see ME?!?”
