LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)- UK Dining has announced the creation of a cafe that will offer meals to students for $1.

ONE, formerly known as Fusion Café, will offer enrolled UK students access to balanced, nutritious meals for just $1.

ONE will be open for lunch between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students with a valid student ID are invited to stop in and get a meal to go.

Meals will consist of an entrée and two sides, with vegan options available. Students can also plan ahead and pick up a second meal for their dinner as well.

This development follows a hunger strike held by students to promote awareness of food insecurity on campus.

“We are proud to offer this brand new concept on campus as it allows us to reduce hunger and food insecurity for our UK student community, so they can focus on what they do best,” said Pulkit Vigg, resident district manager for UK Dining.
