LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Six people are without a home after an apartment complex caught fire early Saturday morning.

It happened around 3 a.m. on Lady Di Lane, near Armstrong Mill and Tates Creek.

The fire reportedly started in one of the apartments and then spread to a second and third.

Residents in each apartment were able to safely get out of the building before fire crews arrived.

Lexington police say a man living in the building was arrested over a domestic violence incident that happened before the fire started.

“Police had gotten here prior to our arrival and then we were called shortly afterwards,” said Battalion Chief Brad Whitaker. “So there are multiple investigations taking place at this point.”

The Red Cross has been called to help the people who are without a home.

An arson investigator is currently on scene.
