UPDATE: Torsteinson’s court date has been moved. We are awaiting confirmation on the time and date.

ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The man accused of using his girlfriend’s teaching job to message teens for sex is due in court Monday.

Police say Sherry Murphy, who has since resigned, knew that her boyfriend — 35-year-old Torstein Torsteinson — messaged at least four girls inappropriately.

According to an arrest citation, Murphy never reported the incidents and tried to interfere with the investigation.

Police say they think the messages were sent months ago, but while they were investigating the accusations against Torsteinson, Murphy allegedly deleted messages to get rid of evidence.

Torsteinson is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning. Murphy will face a judge later this month.
