BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– One person is dead following a single-vehicle accident in Boone County.

It happened around 9:36 p.m. Sunday in the area of Burlington Pike and Botts Lane.

According to a press release, deputies were called out to the scene for an injury accident. Upon arrival, they located a Jeep Cherokee that had overturned onto the driver’s side and a person who had been partially ejected from the vehicle.

Officials say the vehicle appeared to have veered off the roadway into an embankment, which caused it to overturn.

An investigation later determined that the victim was not wearing a seat belt.

The victim was identified as 48-year-old Donald W. Attebery, of Petersburg. He pronounced deceased at the scene.

Speed and wet roadways are suspected to be contributing factors in the crash.
