FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) – Attorney General Andy Beshear announced the indictment of a Hardin County man for a 2011 sexual assault.

The AG’s office began investigating the case after the Elizabethtown Police Department turned it over as cold. DNA from the backlogged kit was matched to Thaddeus Artis, 27. Artis has been indicted on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, intimidating a participant in the legal process and being a persistent felon.

“The victim, in this case, has waited the better part of a decade for justice,” said Beshear. “This case shows how important ending Kentucky’s rape kit backlog and how critical it is moving forward to seek justice for and support each and every victim.”
