GRANT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– One person was found dead after a fire that police say may have been intentionally set.

Kentucky State Police say it happened early Wednesday morning on North Main Street in Crittenden at a home that was supposed to be vacant.

Investigators have not released any details about the victim.

There’s also no word yet about a cause, but water and electricity had been cut off to the house, so arson has not been ruled out.

However, neighbors say people have been going in and out of the house for months.

“It’s just so heartbreaking to hear,” said Ashley Courtney, who lives nearby. “Wish it could have had a different outcome and I wish we could have had these houses torn down and these trailers torn down.”

The city of Crittenden bought some trailers and two homes nearby, which were all supposed to be empty. The city did not own the home that caught fire, but neighbors say the vacant properties together attracted crime.
