LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE 3)– The University of Louisville has received a notice of inquiry from the NCAA.

It’s in relation to alleged involvement in the FBI’s bribery and corruption investigation that rocked college basketball back in September 2017.

The notice is not an indication of wrong-doing, but an initial step announcing the NCAA will be investigating UofL.

If the investigation turns up evidence of rule violations, it will be followed by a notice of allegation which generally leads to penalties.

The FBI’s case led to the dismissal of former basketball coach Rick Pitino and UofL’s athletic director.
