LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – The Fayette County Education Association sent an email to members after local public schools received a subpoena from the Kentucky Labor Cabinet regarding teacher absences during a sickout.

FCPS received the request for any and all documents relating to teachers absences on or about February 28, March, 5,6,7,12, 13, and 14 of this year:

FCEA sent out a message to its members:

As you may already know, FCPS received a subpoena from the Labor Cabinet yesterday regarding the “sick outs” during the recent legislative session. We believe that this is just another example of those in power attempting to intimidate school employees that want to participate in the legislative process.

As educators, our first responsbility is to adovocate for our students and work with our legislators to ensure great public schools. We are so grateful for all of the school employees that advocated for our students during this past legislative session.

FCEA is in contact with FCPS as they work through this process. If you are contacted directly regarding this issue, please contact us before responding or talking with anyone. FCEA has your back!
