LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police have arrested a man who they say took part in lat weekend’s shooting near the University of Kentucky campus.
According to court records, 28-year-old Marquise Burnett is accused of taking part in a shootout last Sunday morning, just as bars were getting ready to close.
Police say a group of men was walking along Bolivar Street downtown, when a car pulled up and someone inside began shooting. The men on the street returned fire, with bystanders caught in between.
A vehicle was damaged, and the next morning a man went to an area hospital with a gunshot wound.
There’s no word on other possible suspects in the case.
Burnett was being held in the Fayette County Detention Center.
