BOURBON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A bus full of middle school students are OK after their charter bus went into a ditch.

It happened around 5 a.m. Monday on North Middletown Road in Paris.

Officials say the bus was carrying 7th and 8th graders as well as chaperones from Paris Middle School. They were on their way back from a trip to Washington D.C.

The right side of the bus reportedly dropped off the side of the road, hit a rock wall and tree, and rode the ditch line. It did not overturn, but it was on a serious slant.

The students and chaperones were taken to the school and checked out by Paris and Bourbon County EMS.

No major injuries were reported.
