LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police arrested frequent-flier Sherman Denny after a traffic accident Monday morning.

Officers caught up with Denny at the intersection of Liberty Road and Man o’ War. The alleged serial-scammer was back on police radar after he fled during an attempted traffic stop last month. Officers had received a tip about his whereabouts and an unmarked police car saw Denny swipe a car at the intersection.

Denny has been arrested for scamming multiple individuals. Lexington police reported earlier this year that he approached a woman in a parking lot and told her he needed money for diabetes medication. He allegedly told the woman he would pay her back. Officials said the woman provided an undisclosed amount of money, while Denny provided her with a phony address and phone number.

Last August, LEX 18 reported police arrested Denny for similar attempted cons in the parking lot of St. Joseph’s Office Park on Harrodsburg Road.

Police had been looking for Denny after he was spotted outside a hotel in Lexington. When an officer attempted to make contact with him, he fled quickly onto the interstate.

Following the collision, Denny was taken into custody. A woman in the vehicle was not arrested. Both cars have minor damage.

Denny has been charged improper turn, disregarding a traffic control device, three counts of theft by deception, probation violation, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading 1st degree, and failure to appear in Clark County.
