LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)- An accused serial scammer pleaded not guilty Tuesday afternoon to multiple charges in Fayette County.

Sherman Denny appeared in court to answer to numerous charges including theft by deception and wanton endangerment.

Lexington police say Denny has been arrested for scamming multiple individuals. Lexington police reported earlier this year that he approached a woman in a parking lot and told her he needed money for diabetes medication. He allegedly told the woman he would pay her back. Officials said the woman provided an undisclosed amount of money, while Denny provided her with a phony address and phone number.

Officers attempted to catch up to Denny earlier this year, but he nearly ran over one of their officers in the process. Monday morning, he was finally arrested after he was involved in a vehicle collision.

Denny pleaded not guilty to charges related to the crash, three counts of theft by deception, probation violation, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading 1st degree. He will be back in court on April 23.

He will soon have to answer on a failure to appear charge in Clark County.
