PIKEVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) – A Pikeville doctor and another person were arrested Wednesday by US Marshals on federal drug charges.

According to EKB News, Dr. Scott Akers, 47, and Serissa Collier, 32, were taken into custody on seven counts of unlawfully distributing quantities of hydrocodone, oxycodone and fentanyl.

The indictment states that the distribution occurred between August 2016 and May 2018.

Akers owned and operated a pain management clinic in Pikeville where Collier was employed. Akers closed the clinic in 2016 and began dispensing prescriptions for pain medication from his residence. Collier lived with Akers infrequently.
