ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– The attorney for an Estill County man accused of using his girlfriend’s teaching job to contact teens for sex waived his preliminary hearing to a grand jury on Wednesday.

Police say that Torstein Torsteinson contacted at least four underage teens through Sherry Murphy, a former Estill County High School Spanish teacher.

Torsteinson has been charged with unlawful transaction with a minor and evidence tampering.

Police say that Murphy knew Torsteinson was doing this and detailed vital text messages from her phone and then she resigned from her position. Murphy has since been arrested for her involvement in tampering with evidence.

Torsteinson’s attorney waived his preliminary hearing to a grand jury, and an indictment will be due now in 60 days or less.
