Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Laurel County Crash

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– One person was airlifted to the hospital after a three-vehicle collision in Laurel County.

It happened around 5:12 p.m. Wednesday on KY 638.

According to the sheriff’s office, a motorcycle drove around a stopped vehicle on Maxine Lane and out in front of a truck that was traveling eastbound on KY 638. The two vehicles collided, sending the motorcycle backward into the westbound lane of KY 638 where it collided with a Honda CRV.

The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 47-year-old Douglas Calhoun, of London. He was airlifted to UK Hospital with serious injuries.

There were four people inside the truck. All reported no injuries.

Officials say the driver of the CRV reported possible injuries.

Calhoun allegedly had no brakes, no insurance, and no motorcycle license at the time of the crash. There is no word if he will face charges.
