Arraignment Set For Garrard Co. Teacher Accused In DUI Crash Outside School

GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Garrard County elementary school teacher arrested on drunken driving charges after allegedly crashing her vehicle outside the school now has a court date.

According to her arrest citation, 39-year-old Belinda Vance crashed her vehicle Wednesday in the parking lot of Paint Lick Elementary School, and still went into the building afterward.

Police say they performed a field sobriety test and that Vance later registered a 0.198 blood-alcohol level, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Vance was arrested and faces multiple charges in the case.

She is schedule dot be arraigned May 20.

In a statement, Garrard County Superintendent Corey Keith said, in part, that “school staff and law enforcement acted swiftly … and appropriately to ensure student safety. Consistent with board policy, the staff member is suspended pending further investigation.”
