FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) – Attorney General Andy Beshear announced that he will hold a news conference Monday morning regarding subpoenas filed against several Kentucky school systems.

Beshear announced earlier this month that he was demanding that the Kentucky Labor Cabinet withdraw its subpoenas against five different school districts regarding teacher sickouts.

Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham, Madison, and Fayette counties have all been subpoenaed by the cabinet regarding absences during protests at the state Capitol under the premise that teachers do not have to right to organize a strike.

Beshear called the subpoenas bullying and gave the Labor Cabinet an ultimatum. Officials had ten days to withdraw the request or else he would file legal action.

Friday, ten days after the press conference, Beshear announced that he would hold a press conference regarding the subpoenas.

LEX 18 will carry the stream live on Facebook. It is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. at the Attorney General’s office.
