LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– TSA Agents call it the Derby Rush and it is at the Blue Grass Airport.

Blue Grass Airport spokesman Mark Howell said that this weekend will be one of the busiest of the year at Blue Grass Airport as travelers fly in and out for the Kentucky Derby.

With 2,800 travelers expected, he said that checking your bag for prohibited items can really speed things up.

“The bottom line is TSA’s mission is we want to make sure that everybody gets from Point A to Point B safely and all the rules we have in place support that,” he said.

Howell said that most items are allowed in checked bags, but if you have questions, check their website here.
