LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Changes are coming to Kentucky’s largest county fair.

The Lexington Lions Club met with reporters Monday to discuss what is different about this year’s Bluegrass Fair, which is typically held in July.

This year, dates for the fair are being moved up to June 6 through June 16.

Fair Chairman Mac Ferguson said the decision was made to avoid summer vacations and some of the more severe weather summertime brings.

Also different this year will be the entertainment company.

Kissel Entertainment promises to bring more than 50 rides and attractions.

Organizers say the fair will still offer all of your favorite foods and activities.

And, as always, all proceeds go to support worthy causes in the community.

“After everybody was gone, after the entertainment company was gone, after all of the bills were paid, we distributed about $165,000 back to different organizations,” said Ferguson. “And it was kind of a bad year because of the weather. We missed a couple of days.”

You can buy advance tickets to the fair at participating Central Bank and Panchitos Ice Cream locations for a discount.
