LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Lexington police officer has been reassigned after he was arrested Tuesday morning by Cynthiana police and charged with driving under the influence. He was driving his police cruiser at the time, officials say.

Jeffery Burden

A Lexington police spokeswoman Brenna Angel confirmed Wednesday morning that officer Jeffery Burden was arrested and charged after being involved in what she called “a minor, single-vehicle collision” in Cynthiana.

Angel said Burden was driving his police cruiser at the time but was off-duty. She said Cynthiana police “determined that Burden was under the influence of prescription medication.”

Angel said Burden has been reassigned to administrative duties while the case is being reviewed.
