Sheriff’s Office: Four Arrested After Baby Allegedly Exposed To Meth

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Four people were arrested Wednesday after the sheriff’s office was notified that a seven-month-old infant had allegedly ingested or been exposed to methamphetamine.

The sheriff’s office said it happened at a home off Ray Johnson Road. The child was transported from St. Joseph London to the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The child is in the neo-natal intensive care unit for treatment.

Four adults were arrested at the scene after an investigation, two of which were caregivers of the child.

Linda Sue Mays, 59, of East Bernstadt, was charged with criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under – she was a caregiver to the seven-month-old child.

Lindsey A. Browning, 25, of East Bernstadt, was charged with criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under – she was a caregiver to the seven-month-old child. Deputies say she admitted using methamphetamine on Monday night/Tuesday morning while supposedly taking care of the child.

Christopher Mays, 34 of East Bernstadt, was present at a residence where a child allegedly ingested methamphetamine, according to the sheriff’s office. His charge is listed on the Laurel County Corrections site as criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under.

Russell L. Mays, Sr., 59 of East Bernstadt, was charged with criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under. Deputies say he was present at a residence where the child allegedly ingested methamphetamine.

All four individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
