ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A Rockcastle County teen was sentenced Friday morning for her role in the murders of her mother and step-father.

Brooklyn Reynolds was just 16 years old when she was tried as an adult, and convicted as an accomplice in the murder of Chara and William Bryant–her parents.

Friday she was sentenced to 23 years in prison, a concurrent sentence for each of the two murders.

During sentencing her half-brother Austin Witt asked the judge to consider his parents’ survivors and the pain and suffering they’ve experienced, and will continue to deal with for the rest of their lives.

“I felt like the sentencing was kinda light on my behalf because of the premeditation of the murders of both my mother and father,” said Witt. “I felt that all the lost time it just… 23 years for me is not enough.  We were not all that close. I mean we lived together for many years but it just felt like we were never true brother and sister.  There’s was always barriers, I felt like.”

Reynolds will serve at least 85 percent of her sentence before being eligible for parole.
