LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – It was a record breaking Heart Walk for the American Heart Association at Keeneland Saturday morning.

The annual Central Kentucky walk raises money for the association’s work to fight heart disease and stroke. The Lexington walk was one of 300 held across the country.

Joey Maggard with the American Heart Association was thrilled at the turnout.

“We had over five thousand walkers who raised over four hundred thousand dollars. A new record for our event. Those dollars go to research education and advocacy work, said Maggard.”

Heart disease remains the number one killer in the United States.
