SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A former Simpson County police officer has been charged with conspiring to obstruct a drug investigation against a doctor.

Former Franklin Police Lt. Vickie Kristiansen was charged last week in federal court.

Prosecutors accuse Kristiansen of telling the doctor about the investigation and advising the doctor against taking new patients because they could be informants.

She also allegedly advised the doctor to shred documents and to wait to put office trash on the curb until collection day to prevent investigators from looking through it.

Kristiansen is charged with conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding.

If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
