SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A former police officer is accused of tipping off a doctor about a drug investigation.

Former Franklin Police Lieutenant Vickie Kristiansen was charged with obstruction in federal court last week.

Prosecutors accuse Kristiansen of telling the doctor about the investigation, and advising the doctor to stop taking new patients, as they could be undercover informants.

She also allegedly told the doctor to shred documents, and to avoid putting the office trash bin on the curb until collection day to prevent investigators from looking in it.

She could face up to 20 years in prison.
