Anonymous Child Abuse Tip Leads To Arrest Of Hazard Man

PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man has been arrested following an anonymous tip of possible child abuse.

The Hazard Police Department received the tip Monday afternoon and responded to the home.

Police say they completed a forensic interview with a 7-year-old boy, and then proceeded to interview Brandon Sumner, 25, who had watched the child on several occasions.

After interviewing Sumner, police determined that criminal acts had occurred and he was arrested.

Sumner is charged with 19 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, victim under 12.

He was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.

The investigation continues and police say further charges are pending at this time.
