WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Henry County woman is in jail after she allegedly admitted to stealing a Whitley County school bus over the weekend, according to her arrest report.

It is unclear why Ashley Hawkins allegedly drove off with a school bus from Whitley Central Intermediate. The arrest report for the 44-year-old said she left her house after getting into an argument with her husband.

“It’s not mentally a good thing to do if you’re aggravated with a home situation, to get out and take something and try to do a revengeful act that could involve the health of another person,” said Whitley County resident Delia Mills.

Police said Hawkins drove the bus from Whitley County to Barbourville and then left it behind in a Walmart parking lot. They caught up with Hawkins at a nearby gas station where they found her sitting inside of a car wash.
