JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– Nicholasville firefighters rushed into a burning duplex to rescue a woman Wednesday morning.

Deana Rittenberry told LEX 18 she and her husband awoke to flames in the bedroom of her friend’s apartment.

She’s paralyzed after a pair of strokes, and her husband tried to help but couldn’t get her out.

So firefighters went into the unit next door, broke through the wall to reach her, then picked her up off the floor and rushed her out.

“I kept saying, ‘Lord, don’t let me die like this.’ I was saying prayers over and over and over in my mind. And I give God all the credit for getting me out…because he’s the one who sent those firefighters to help me.”

Rittenberry says neither she nor her husband or her friend were hurt
