LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – It was an emotional day in court for the family of a hit and run victim as the man responsible for her death was sentenced to 10 years in jail.

Stevonn Stevie Page was killed in a 2018 crash on Leestown Road. Authorities say she was retrieving her trash bins when Michael King’s SUV veered off the road and hit her.

He was arrested a short time later. King apologized to Page’s family in the courtroom. Page’s husband was given the opportunity to speak out and he offered his forgiveness.

“And, you know, I told Michael King that I forgive him, and I think we all do. We have to, that’s what the Bible says. If we don’t forgive, then God won’t forgive us, and we have to. So we’re going to continue to pray for his family and him because prayers and our church is the only thing that has gotten us through to where we are today,” Danny Page emotionally told the courtroom.

King was sentenced to seven years for second-degree manslaughter and three years for leaving the scene of an accident served consecutively.
