POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – The beautiful weather made for a great day of hiking. But it was a busy one for search and rescue teams from Wolfe and Powell Counties.

On Saturday afternoon, both county squads searched for a woman who was having a medical emergency on top of the Natural Bridge Arch.

According to the Wolfe County Squad’s page, upon arriving, they used a helicopter to lower a medic with a SKED and lifted the patient where she was sent to UK Hospital.

As this rescue was finishing, the Powell County team received a call about a lost hiker.

We’re told a father and son were hiking separate trails, and the 18 year-old son was unable to return.

He’s not injured, and the squad is able to communicate with him over the phone.

At last check they’re still searching for him.
