LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX 18) — Adam Edelen is no stranger to Frankfort, and now, he is hoping to be the Democrat’s nominee for governor.

A room in the 21C in downtown Louisville was packed with supporters hoping to end the night in a celebration for Edelen.

Edelen and his wife voted in their precinct in Lexington just before noon. He said that he feels great and hopes voters will pay attention to his record of job creating and fighting corruption during his time as State Auditor.

Edelen told LEX 18 that he is supportive of a woman’s rights to make their own healthcare decisions, he wants to increase wages, expand Medicaid, expand drug court, and help combat the opioid epidemic at the community level, and create renewable energy jobs to help Kentucky’s economy.

“That if we’re gonna fix our broken politics and build a modern economy of the future, that we have got to do it with different kind of politicians,” he said. “We can’t rely on literally the same names, and the same old tired talking points. We have to have the economy of the future built by somebody who knows what it looks like.”
