LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) The Bluegrass Healthcare Coalition is compromised of agencies in 17 counties that all share the common mission of responding swiftly in the case of an emergency.
At Blue Grass Airport Thursday, more than a dozen agencies showcased their equipment that would be used in an emergency.
In the event of a natural disaster or mass casualty event, the agencies directly affected would request what resources they needed, then the coalition’s coordinator would help facilitate the movement of equipment, and in some cases, patients.
“Hospitals on a day-to-day basis, compete with each other, as far as the Healthcare Coalition, we’re all one team and that’s what we strive for,” said Bluegrass Healthcare Colation Coordinator Kenneth Kik.
Among the equipment showcased Thursday were a Blackhawk helicopter and inflatable stretchers.’
