RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18)– A memorial was held Thursday to honor the lives of six law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2018.

A large crowd showed up for the ceremony held at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice training center in Richmond.

The memorial as held by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation at the Department of Criminal Justice Training on the Eastern Kentucky University campus.

The names of the six officers who never came home were added to the memorial.

“I shattered on that day when I was 16 and a half and it’s impossible for me to ever look the same,” said Kiana Brown, the daughter of a fallen officer. “I’m full of cracks and chips, and there are still a few broken pieces from the pile that haven’t been glued back together yet, and there are a few pieces that have been lost entirely that will never be glued back together.”
