SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Harrodsburg couple died Saturday in a motorcycle crash that police say was caused by the motorcycle driver trying to pass several vehicles in a restricted zone.

Kentucky State Police said 39-year-old John Bailey and 41-year-old Amanda Bailey were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened just before 7 p.m. on U.S. Highway 150.

Police said John Bailey was driving a 1999 Harley Davidson eastbound when he tried to pass several vehicles in a no-passing zone.

Officials said Bailey’s motorcycle struck 2007 Jeep driven by 59-year-old Warren Purdom of Springfield. Purdom was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three passengers in Purdom’s vehicle also went to an area hospital, where they were treated and released.
