Memorial Day Ceremonies In And Around Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– There are several ceremonies being held across the state Monday to honor those who have served and sacrificed.

The public is invited to join the American Legion at 11 a.m. at the Lexington Cemetery for a memorial observance.

You can expect the presentation of the colors, playing of “Taps,” and a ceremonial firing detail.

The history of the Lexington National Cemetery as a final resting place for war veterans dates back to the Civil War.

There will also be a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Camp Nelson in Nicholasville.

A B-25 bomber will conduct a military flyover to honor all WWII service men and women.

A commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War will also take place. The names of the 34 Jessamine County casualties will be read.
