MERCER COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Friends, family and fellow bikers are mourning the loss of a beloved Mercer County couple.

John and Amanda Bailey died over the weekend in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 150 in Washington County. Friend Chris Patterson says he watched as John tried to pass a Jeep in a no-passing zone.

“It keeps playing over in my head, seeing it happen. I can’t get it out of my head,” Patterson told LEX 18. “An instant second of … and just lost two of the best people that you could ever imagine.”

John and Amanda Bailey were together for nearly 20 years. Their families mourned together at Granny’s Diner, the family restaurant where Amanda worked. Close friends and fellow bikers Patterson and J.R. Baker wanted to make sure everyone knew how people felt about the couple.

Amanda was a strong, loving mother who worked at the diner. John was a doting father who loved to hunt, fish and ride.

Family, friends and fellow bikers will come together in mourning but also to support the three daughters who will now grow up without their father and mother.

A trust fund has been set up at Whitaker Bank in Harrodsburg. You can make donations out to “The Bailey Memorial Fund.”

The family has also established agofundme page.
