Laurel County Woman Accused Of Striking Juvenile

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WBON) – A Laurel County woman is behind bars after deputies say she struck an 11-year-old child during an argument.

According to our news partners at WBON, Jyll Burgett, 39 was taken into custody after officers were dispatched to a home off Pepper Hill Drive in London. When they arrived, deputies say they found Burgett lying in the floor.

Deputies say she was under the influence. According to her arrest citation,  Burgett was allegedly yelling, screaming, and creating a disturbance at the residence.

Prior to their arrival, deputies say she had been in an altercation with an 11-year-old male in the home and had struck the victim.

Burgett was charged with 4th-degree assault, controlled substances public intoxication, second-degree disorderly conduct, second-degree wanton endangerment. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
