SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A bomb squad has been called to Georgetown after a man digging in his yard found a blasting cap for dynamite.

A crew digging fence holes Tuesday morning made the unexpected find in a back yard on Walden Cove.

Authorities tells LEX 18 it is a device used for home construction.

They believe it has already been used, but they called in Lexington’s bomb squad as a precaution.

The post digger says he didn’t want to take any chances either.

“It was pretty obvious what it was, blasting cap for dynamite,” said Chris Hicks. “No wires on it or anything. We got it out, laid it on the ground. I got a buddy on the sheriff’s department I called and asked what I should do.”

The bomb squad is expected to arrive to the home within the hour.
