MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– One month ago, a Mount Sterling woman was given two months to live after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Now, Sandy Thomas’ family is rallying around her and asking for your support by sending her cards.

Cassie White says it’s been tough for her family ever since her aunt was diagnosed with lung cancer.

“They told her she had about two months to live,” Cassie said. “She has just been really depressed. She’s not been in and out of the house much, she can’t get around too much now.”

The family says they’re doing everything they can to keep Sandy happy during her last days.

“At one point, she was asking, ‘how long has it been since I found out the diagnosis?’ and we don’t want her to count down the days. We know that there’s a greater God out there that has her day set.”

Cassie says her aunt looks forward to checking the mail every day and now her family is asking for the community’s help by sending her cards.

“She’s a dog lover so even pictures of dogs, send her a picture of the dog, or whatever. Just anything that will show her that there is the next day to rejoice and live.”

You can help Sandy do that by filling her mailbox with happiness.

All cards can be sent to the following address: 105 Ronameki Drive, Mt. Sterling, Ky., 40353.

The family is also seeking donations to help with past and future medical expenses. Thomas’ GoFundMe page can be found here.
