ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Emergency crews responded Wednesday afternoon to a wreck that closed down Kentucky Highway 82 for hours.
State police tell LEX 18 that the crash happened at 11:40 a.m. They say that the roads were still wet from the rain. KSP says they believe the driver of a gold car was going too fast around a curve, overcorrected and moved into oncoming traffic.
The gold car collided with a black car, that was able to slow down before impact.
The occupants in the black car were all wearing seatbelts. KSP said that they all have non-life-threatening injuries. Two were flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, one was taken to UK by ambulance, a fourth was taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the gold car was the only person in the gold car. KSP says he died in the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt.
The road has reopened.
